Dates for the June 2010 Trip

Monday, June 7, 2010 – Sunday, June 13, 2010

Preparation Timelines

Student and parent meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the high school commons on Sunday, August 30, 2009. Registration forms will be handed out, a payment timeline will be provided, and questions answered.

Who is eligible to go?

In June of 2010 the Classes of 2011 and 2012 will be eligible to go.  Parents are always welcome to join the trip as chaperones.

Cost

The trip will be taken June 7 – 13, 2010.  This coming year the cost of the trip will be approximately $1,695.00 for students and $1,987.00 for parent who would like to join us.  The following items are included in this price:

  • Full round trip air fare and baggage fees for one checked and one carry-on bag.
  • All meals (except for supper the night of June 6th) Snacks are on your own.
  • All lodging costs (except for the night of June 6th in Minneapolis)
  • All admission fees to all exhibits
  • All ground transportation costs including buses and metro
  • Kennedy Center play tickets

In essence, the only extra money needed by students is money for souvenirs and snacks.  Three large fundraisers will be held, but the students must make plans to fund 75% to 80% of the trip on their own.

I hope that you and your child will consider this great opportunity and use this summer to raise some money.  A parent/child information meeting will be held on August 30, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. in the high school commons.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Parent Updates

Parents – you have most likely received letters from School Tours of America regarding trip protection plans.  The company has sent this additional letter to ALL parents to further explain the plan because of H1N1 and our struggling economy.  It is the company’s intention to re-offer the plan in case parents are concerned about loss of money if a child gets H1N1 or a family hits financial difficulties and your child cannot attend the trip at a late date.  Please contact me if you have questions regarding this additional offer.  It is NOT required that you purchase this plan to participate in the trip.


Dates and Deadlines to Remember

Wednesday, September 30th ~ $99.00 reservation/nonrefundable down payment is due to Mrs. Schumacher.  Also turn in registration form and Secret Service security form on that date.  All checks must be payable to Clear Lake Schools.  No credit card transactions.

Friday, January 8th ~ $300.00 REQUIRED payment is due to Mrs. Schumacher to confirm airline tickets. All checks must be payable to Clear Lake Schools.  No credit card transactions.

Friday, March 12th ~ FINAL payment for the trip is due to Mrs. Schumacher.  This will be your remaining balance minus any fundraising monies and/or additional payments made throughout the school year.  All checks must be payable to Clear Lake Schools.  No credit card transactions.

Fund Raisers

Pie and Soup Sales - Take orders Mon., 9/14 – Sun., 9/27.

All orders are due to Mrs. Schumacher no later than 3:30 p.m. on Mon., 9/28

Delivery of product will be Mon., 10/5 from 3:30 – 5:30 at the high school commons on the east side of the high school – parent helpers will be needed.

We had a great and successful event – thank you to all of the parents who assisted with product distribution on the 5th!

Cookie Dough Sales - Take orders Wed., 10/28 – Sun., 11/15

All orders are due to Mrs. Schumacher no later than 3:30 p.m. on Mon., 11/16

Delivery of product will be Tues., 12/1 from 3:30 – 5:30 at the high school commons on the east side of the high school – parent helpers will be needed.

Wrestling Tournament Concession Stand on Sat., January 9, 2010 from 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.  Scheduling of work times will occur in early December.  Parents may sign up to work as well as the students.

District Speech Contest Concession Stand on Sat., February 27, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Scheduling of work times will occur in early February.  Parents may sign up to work as well as the students.
